In 2012, The Phoenix raced a 1,650-mi route from Rochester, New York, to St. Paul, Minnesota through the states bordering the Great Lakes. We placed sixth out of the 17 teams that entered the competition and our team was awarded the “Spirit of the Rayce” award for being the embodiment of what the American Solar Challenge stands for: excellence in engineering, team work, and sportsmanship. In 2013 The Phoenix placed 1st in the closest Formula Sun Grand Prix in its 13-year history.
